It is the rare church that does not have a need for the services of a photographer; videographer and web master. Economically disadvantaged young people rarely have access to a good education in these trades. Two needs - add one source of education and you have a perfect match! We have a program that offers free training for qualified applicants, and qualification is simple.
To qualify, a student and one parent or guardian must sign a form that states -
The form will also include some legal nonsense that will basically state that we at Web-Professor.com are in no way responsible for any accidents or other unforeseen maladies that may befall the student while taking these classes.
The participating churches will be expected to see to it that students have the necessary materials - i.e.: access to the internet; a computer; etc. Churches will also be expected to appoint someone in their organization to oversee student's work.
This person need not have any specified knowledge of the subjects being studied, but will ensure that student spends the time and effort necessary to complete lessons and will stay informed of which lessons are being studied, when tests or other work is to be turned in, etc., and offer student the needed motivation and support.
Coordinator will also contact the teacher if student is having difficulties that he or she may be reluctant, for whatever reason, to disclose to teacher, etc., and will be available to receive email from teachers that may indicate areas student needs to work on, etc. so that coordinator can follow through with the student or students.
I'm sure we'll add more to the wording, but this is it in a nutshell.
Churches will get photography, videography, web students willing and eager to sharpen their skills doing the churches work. Students will have a way to advance their skills and perhaps even make some part time money or eventually get a good paying job or even start their own business.
